This product can easily be given a 4 star rating for its special use.

Each gram of Stievamcin gel contains tretinoin USP 0.05 % and erythromycin USP 4.0 % in an alcohol gel base. Other non-medicinal ingredients are BHT, ethyl alcohol and hydroxypropyl cellulose. Acne vulgaris is the impaction plus distention of the sebaceous follicles by tightly packed horny cells and disruption of the follicular epithelium.

It has been shown that tretinoin inhibits the synthesis or quality of the substance which binds the horny cells within the sebaceous follicle. Stievamycin, generally used in the treatment of acne vulgaris, is not that effective in most cases of severe pustular and deep cystic nodular varieties of acne.

This medicine has been rated by its customers as pretty ok. It sometimes makes the skin look raw and red. Otherwise, it is a good medication.
